The Rolex Yacht-Master 42 ref. 226659 is the white gold Yacht-Master: a 42 mm case in 18 kt white gold, a matt black Cerachrom timing bezel, a black dial and Rolex’s Oysterflex bracelet. Launched at Baselworld 2019 as the first 42 mm Yacht-Master, it runs on the calibre 3235 with around 70 hours of power reserve, and since 2022 it has also been made with a falcon’s eye stone dial (226659-0004). Two details are easy to miss in photographs. The bezel insert is sandblasted to a matt finish, so the polished, raised numerals catch the light against it rather than blending in. And the Oysterflex is not a rubber strap in the usual sense: the elastomer is moulded over metal blades, and cushions on its inner side hold the case steady, which is why it wears closer to a bracelet than a strap.

226659-0002 vs 226659-0004 “Falcon’s Eye”

The 226659 exists in two dial versions, and the reference number on the papers is the quickest way to tell them apart.

  • 226659-0002, black dial. The original 2019 configuration: a black lacquer dial with white gold hour markers and hands filled with blue-glowing Chromalight. It is the version you will see most often on the secondary market.
  • 226659-0004, falcon’s eye dial. Added in 2022. The dial is cut from falcon’s eye, a blue-grey quartz stone whose fibrous structure throws a moving, silky sheen as the watch turns. Because it is a natural stone, no two dials match in color or pattern. It carries a higher retail price than the black dial and trades well above it on the secondary market.

Case, bezel, movement and Oysterflex bracelet are the same on both. If you are looking specifically for a falcon’s eye, tell us and we will let you know when one comes in.

Rolex 226659 Price

The official retail price for the Rolex Yacht-Master 226659 is $40,000 (226659-0002, black dial, as of September 2026). At Watch My Diamonds, the Rolex Yacht-Master 226659 is available at $33,920 — about 15% below retail.

Rolex has raised the list price of the 226659 several times since its 2019 launch, so a retail figure quoted in an older article is usually out of date. On the secondary market, pre-owned examples have generally changed hands below the current retail price, while unworn pieces with a recent warranty card sit closer to it. Within that band, the price of an individual watch comes down to the condition of the case and the Oysterflex, whether the box and warranty card are present, and how recent the date on the card is.

226659 vs Other Yacht-Master References

Every modern Oysterflex Yacht-Master follows the same formula of precious-metal case, matt black Cerachrom bezel and elastomer bracelet. What changes is size and metal, and the 226659 is the white gold one, in the largest of the three case sizes.

Reference Size Case Bracelet Introduced
226659 42 mm 18 kt white gold Oysterflex 2019
226658 42 mm 18 kt yellow gold Oysterflex 2022
226627 42 mm RLX titanium Titanium Oyster bracelet 2023
126655 40 mm 18 kt Everose gold Oysterflex 2019
116655 40 mm 18 kt Everose gold Oysterflex 2015
268655 37 mm 18 kt Everose gold Oysterflex 2015

Against the 40 mm 126655, the 226659 trades Everose for white gold and adds 2 mm, with the same calibre 3235 inside. The yellow gold 226658 is the same watch in a warmer metal. The RLX titanium 226627 is the outlier, with a full titanium bracelet instead of the Oysterflex and a much lighter case. The 44 mm Yacht-Master II is a different watch altogether, a regatta countdown chronograph, not a larger version of this one. What to Check Before Buying a Pre-Owned 226659

  • The Oysterflex. The elastomer is usually the first part of this watch to show wear. Look at the edges near the lugs and at the cushions on the inner side. It can be replaced through Rolex, but the cost belongs in the price you pay.
  • The case. 18 kt white gold is softer than Oystersteel and marks more easily. Check the lug edges and case sides for dents, and for rounded, over-polished bevels.
  • The bezel. Cerachrom resists scratches and does not fade, but a hard knock can chip it. Check the raised numerals and the edge of the insert.
  • The warranty card. Rolex’s international guarantee runs five years from the date on the card, so the date matters as much as the card itself.
  • The reference. Make sure the dial matches the reference on the papers: -0002 for black, -0004 for falcon’s eye.
  • Service history. Rolex recommends servicing its current watches roughly every ten years. On age alone any 226659 is still within that window, but ask for service records all the same.

Every watch we sell is inspected and authenticated in house before it ships.

Rolex 226659 FAQs

How much is the Rolex 226659 retail price?

The Yacht-Master 226659-0002 (black dial) retail price is $40,000 USD as of September 2026. The falcon’s eye version (226659-0004) retails higher.

When was Rolex 226659 released?

The 226659 Yacht-Master was released in 2019 at Baselworld. The falcon’s eye dial (226659-0004) followed in 2022.

What size is a Rolex 226659?

Case size: 42 mm, in 18 kt white gold. It was the first Yacht-Master in 42 mm; before 2019 the Yacht-Master topped out at 40 mm, with the 44 mm Yacht-Master II a separate model.

What is the difference between the 226659-0002 and 226659-0004?

Only the dial. The -0002 has a black lacquer dial; the -0004 has a dial cut from falcon’s eye stone, so each one is unique. Case, bezel, movement and Oysterflex bracelet are identical.

Does the Rolex 226659 have a date?

Yes. The calibre 3235 drives an instantaneous date at 3 o’clock with rapid setting, magnified by the Cyclops lens on the crystal.

Can you swim with the Yacht-Master 226659?

Yes. The case is water resistant to 100 m with a screw-down Triplock crown, and the Oysterflex bracelet is made for water. Keep the crown screwed down, and rinse the watch in fresh water after the sea or a pool.
