Why was Rolex Milgauss Discontinued?
There are several reasons why Rolex decided to stop producing the Milgauss. The first reason is the low demand for this model in the market. This model was mainly bought by engineers or scientists because the main purpose of this model was to make it possible to easily perceive the time month and year in a harsh magnetic environment. The next reason why this model was discontinued is to increase the demand for this model. As an experienced brand, Rolex knows how to increase the demand for any model in the market, so it stopped producing the Milgauss, and after that the demand for this model increased like never before. All this indicates the experience and prestige of the brand. Another reason is the outstanding materials of this model. This model was distinguished by expensive materials, therefore Rolex was expensive to assemble and due to its low demand in the market, it could not see a good profit. Why is Milgauss Resale Value so High?
Rolex has worked hard on the high resale value of this model and it has paid off. There are several factors contributing to the high value of this model. One of the most important factors in the high cost of this model is its small quantity. Due to the high demand in the market that its discontinuation caused reduced quantities and production accordingly all models became limited and collectible which caused a significant increase in resale value. The next factor is the distinctive features of this model and the unique technologies that make it different from any other Rolex, such as the lightning seconds and the distinctive green sapphire crystal. Due to these features, its resale value is very high. Rolex's decision to stop producing the Milgauss is also one of the factors that led to the high value and resale of this model. This model is considered a collector's item after being discontinued, making it a more desirable model for collectors and greatly increasing its value.Investment and value

Historical Background
There is a story, though unsupported by evidence, that the Rolex Milgauss series was directly requested by scientists from the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), located in Geneva. Scientists working in high energy physics labs needed a special wristwatch to meet their unique requirements. The truth is that the Rolex Milgauss was first introduced in 1954 with the ref. 6543 and first, indeed, it was tested by scientists at CERN. It was found to be resistant to magnetic fields up to 1,000 gauss. However, this model is not considered the official first Milgauss model. The Milgauss series officially began with the introduction of the ref. 6541 in 1956. The Rolex Milgauss ref. 1019 was released in the 1960s and 1970s and differed somewhat from the original model. It offered two dial options: black and silver. Some watches from this series were also released without the lightning bolt second hand, which many later had added. In 2007, Rolex introduced three new versions of the Milgauss, designed ref.116400. The first two versions feature either a white or black dial with sapphire crystal. The special Glace Verte model features a black dial with a distinctive green-tinted sapphire crystal, which is where its name, Glace Verte originates.Celebrities with Rolex Datejust
