Rolex Caliber 3235
The Rolex Caliber 3235 is one of the most advanced automatic movements ever created by the brand. Introduced in 2015, it marked a major breakthrough in the evolution of Rolex engineering, replacing the long-standing Caliber 3135. Nearly 90% of its components were redesigned, resulting in higher efficiency, better accuracy, and significantly improved performance across every function.
Rolex equipped the movement with its blue Parachrom hairspring, an extremely stable alloy designed to resist shocks, temperature fluctuations, and magnetism. It uses a free-sprung balance with Microstella nuts and a full balance bridge for greater durability and long-term reliability.
The 3235 features a highly efficient bidirectional Perpetual rotor, ensuring dependable automatic winding with minimal wrist motion. The movement is certified as a Superlative Chronometer, meaning it performs within an impressive –2/+2 seconds per day—stricter than standard chronometer requirements.
Additional technical refinements include an instantaneous date change mechanism, improved gear train efficiency, enhanced lubricants developed in-house, and components designed for longevity and reduced friction.
