Rolex did not print the production year on the watch, so the serial number is the reference point. On watches from this era the serial is engraved between the lugs at the 6 o'clock position, visible once the bracelet is removed. A 1999 Rolex carries an A-series serial. If you are unsure what you are looking at, our Rolex serial number check will match the serial to its production year. Two further markers help confirm the period. Dials made towards the end of the 1990s move away from tritium, so a genuine 1999 piece may read either "SWISS" or "SWISS MADE" at the bottom of the dial rather than the earlier "T SWISS T<25".
