Rolex Milgauss Blue Dial
The blue Rolex Milgauss is the Z-Blue, a dial Rolex introduced in 2014 on the ref. 116400GV. It pairs a sunray metallic blue face with the green sapphire crystal and the orange lightning-bolt seconds hand that set the Milgauss apart from every other Rolex. Rolex retired the Milgauss in 2023, so the Z-Blue is now found only on the secondary market. This collection gathers every blue dial Milgauss we have, in Oystersteel and in custom black PVD/DLC, with available watches first and sold ones last.

Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue Price
At Watch My Diamonds, Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue watches range from $15,500 to $20,540 across 2 priced listings.
That range covers every watch on this page that carries a price, including any that have already sold, because a recent sale is a better guide to the market than an asking price. Rolex no longer makes the Rolex Milgauss, so there is no list price to compare against. Every Z-Blue changes hands on the secondary market, and its price follows condition, age and completeness. A custom black PVD/DLC example is priced as a customized piece and sits apart from the standard steel watch.
What Makes the Z-Blue Dial Different
Z-Blue is Rolex’s own name for the color. The dial has a sunray finish, brushed outward from the center, so it moves from a bright electric blue to a darker, cooler tone as the light changes. Orange accents run through it: the lightning-bolt seconds hand, the Milgauss name and the minute scale around the edge.
The crystal above it is green sapphire. The tint sits in the sapphire itself and shows most at the rim, where it draws a thin green ring around the blue. No other Rolex model has used a green crystal, which is why a Z-Blue is easy to pick out among other blue dial Rolex watches.
Why Every Blue Milgauss Is a 116400GV
Rolex relaunched the Milgauss in 2007 as the ref. 116400, with a black or white dial under a clear sapphire crystal. Alongside it came the 116400GV. GV stands for glace verte, French for green glass: the same watch with the green sapphire crystal, at first only with a black dial. When the Z-Blue arrived in 2014, Rolex offered it with the green crystal and nothing else.
A blue dial Milgauss is therefore always a 116400GV.

Built for 1,000 Gauss
The name joins mille, French for thousand, with gauss, the unit of magnetic flux density. Rolex launched the Milgauss in 1956 for engineers and scientists whose work put a watch close to strong magnetic fields, which can throw a mechanical movement off its rate.
The modern watch protects calibre 3131 with a shield of ferromagnetic alloys inside the Oyster case.
What Sets the Price of a Z-Blue
- Condition. A case with crisp edges and a bracelet with little stretch are worth more than a heavily polished watch.
- Box and papers. A complete set with the original box and warranty card sells for more than the watch alone.
- Year. Rolex made the Z-Blue from 2014 to 2023, and later years tend to cost more.
- Customization. A PVD/DLC watch is priced on its own terms, as a custom piece.
Rolex Milgauss Blue FAQ
What is the Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue?
The Z-Blue is the blue dial version of the Rolex Milgauss ref. 116400GV, introduced in 2014. It combines a sunray metallic blue dial with a green sapphire crystal and an orange lightning-bolt seconds hand, in a 40 mm Oystersteel case.
Is the Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue discontinued?
Yes. Rolex retired the whole Milgauss line in 2023, and as of October 2026 rolex.com lists no Milgauss. The Z-Blue is available only on the secondary market, pre-owned or unworn.
Is every blue Milgauss a 116400GV?
Yes. Rolex offered the blue dial only with the green sapphire crystal, and that combination is the ref. 116400GV. The plain 116400 has a clear crystal and came with a black or white dial.
Why is the Milgauss crystal green?
The green sapphire crystal is a design signature that Rolex introduced in 2007 on the 116400GV and never used on another model. The color is in the sapphire itself. It has no effect on the magnetic protection, which comes from the shield around the movement.
How much does a Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue cost?
There is no retail price, because Rolex stopped making the Milgauss in 2023. Z-Blue watches are priced by the market according to condition, year and whether the box and papers are included. The price section above shows the current range of our listings.
