The Nautilus 5811 is a 41mm white gold luxury sports watch, introduced in October 2022 as the direct successor to the discontinued 5711. While visually familiar, this reference marks a major shift: the time-and-date Nautilus moved from stainless steel to precious metal, elevating the watch’s status while keeping the everyday versatility that made the line famous. That change was not cosmetic. When Patek Philippe retired the steel 5711/1A in 2021, it left the collection without its most recognisable model. Rather than reissue it, the manufacture reworked the case, redesigned the clasp and moved the whole proposition upmarket. The result is a watch that reads as a Nautilus from across a room and behaves like a very different object on the wrist.

Patek Philippe 5811: Specs, Movement and References

Two references carry the 5811 name, and they sit at opposite ends of the collection. The 5811/1G-001 is the production white gold model. The 5811/1460G-001 is a fully gem-set Haut Artisanat piece. They share a 41mm case and a movement family, and very little else.

Case Size and Dimensions: 41mm x 8.2mm

The 5811/1G-001 measures 41mm across the 10-to-4 o’clock axis and just 8.2mm thick. Those two numbers are the whole design brief: the case grew a millimetre over the 5711 while getting fractionally thinner, so the watch gained presence without gaining bulk. It still slides under a cuff. The rounded octagonal bezel, the horizontal porthole “ears” and the contrast between polished and satin finishing all carry over unchanged. What is new sits underneath — a patented Patek Philippe fold-over clasp with a lockable adjustment system, which lets the wearer resize the bracelet without tools. On a solid white gold bracelet, that matters more than it sounds.

Caliber 26-330 S C: Self-Winding with 45h Power Reserve

The 5811/1G-001 runs the caliber 26-330 S C, the same self-winding movement family that powered the final steel 5711. It measures 27mm by 3.32mm, uses 207 parts and 30 jewels, and delivers a power reserve of 35 to 45 hours. A 21K gold central rotor handles winding, the Gyromax balance beats at 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour (4 Hz), and a Spiromax balance spring governs the rate. The movement carries the Patek Philippe Seal and is visible through the sapphire crystal case back. The “C” in the caliber name denotes the date function, which is why the gem-set 5811/1460G-001 runs the 26-330 S without it.

5811/1G-001 vs 5811/1460G-001

The 5811/1G-001 is the reference most buyers mean by “the 5811”. It pairs a sunburst blue dial carrying a black-gradient rim and the signature horizontal embossing with white gold applied baton hour markers and a luminescent coating. The 5811/1460G-001 is a different proposition entirely. It carries 1,285 brilliant-cut diamonds (6.43 carats) and 195 baguette-cut diamonds (13.27 carats) across the case, bezel, dial and bracelet, set on an 18K gold dial plate with charcoal grey hands and baguette-diamond hour markers. The setting pushes the case to 9.25mm thick, and the retail price to nearly nine times that of the standard model.

Nautilus 5811 vs 5711: What Actually Changed

This is the comparison most buyers arrive with, and the short answer is size, metal and price. The 5711/1A measured 40mm by 8.3mm in stainless steel. The 5811/1G measures 41mm by 8.2mm in white gold — a millimetre wider, a tenth of a millimetre thinner, and in a metal several times more expensive by weight. Both use the 26-330 S C caliber, so the timekeeping story is unchanged. The visual language is unchanged too, which is exactly why the two references get confused. Price is where they separate hardest. The steel 5711/1A last retailed around $34,900 before Patek stopped production. The 5811/1G lists well above that. On the secondary market the gap narrows and sometimes reverses, because 5711 scarcity keeps clean examples trading far above their old retail while the 5811 remains in current production. The practical difference on the wrist is weight. A solid white gold bracelet is substantially heavier than steel, which some collectors read as luxury and others as a daily-wear compromise. That, more than any specification, is what decides the choice.

Patek Philippe Nautilus 5811 Price

The official retail price for the Nautilus 5811 is $82,021 (for the 5811/1G-001, as of September 2026). At Watch My Diamonds, the most recent Nautilus 5811 listing was priced at $191,400 — about 133% above retail.

Patek Philippe publishes one official retail figure per reference, but allocation decides what buyers actually pay. Dealer waiting lists for the Nautilus line were long before the 5711 was discontinued, and the 5811 inherited that queue. Secondary-market pricing reflects waiting time as much as it reflects the watch.

Why the 5811 Trades Above Retail

Three forces set the number. The first is supply: Patek Philippe produces roughly 60,000 watches a year across every collection, and the Nautilus is a small fraction of that. The second is substitution — buyers shut out of the discontinued 5711 moved to the 5811 as the only current time-and-date Nautilus, concentrating demand on a single reference. The third is metal. A white gold case and bracelet put a hard floor under the watch that a steel model never had. The gem-set 5811/1460G-001 sits outside this logic. It is a Haut Artisanat commission rather than a waiting-list watch, and it trades on the quality and carat weight of its setting rather than on Nautilus scarcity.

Patek Philippe 5811 FAQ

Did the 5811 replace the 5711? Yes. Patek Philippe ended 5711 production in 2021–2022 and introduced the 5811/1G-001 in October 2022 as the current time-and-date Nautilus. How thick is the Nautilus 5811? The 5811/1G-001 is 8.2mm thick and 41mm in diameter, measured across the 10-to-4 o’clock axis. The gem-set 5811/1460G-001 is 9.25mm thick in the same 41mm case. Is the Nautilus 5811 available in steel? No. The 5811 has only been produced in white gold. The steel Nautilus with date ended with the 5711/1A. What movement does the 5811 use? The 5811/1G-001 uses the self-winding caliber 26-330 S C, with a 35 to 45 hour power reserve, a 21K gold central rotor and the Patek Philippe Seal. The 5811/1460G-001 uses the 26-330 S, the same caliber without the date.
