Rolex 39mm
A 39 mm Rolex sits between the classic 36 mm case and the 41 mm of today’s Oyster Perpetual and Datejust. Rolex has used the size for the Oyster Perpetual 39, the Explorer 39, the Cellini, the Pearlmaster 39 and the Perpetual 1908, which is the only 39 mm model in its current catalog. The Oyster Perpetual 39 and the Explorer 39 are steel sports watches on an Oyster bracelet, both powered by the calibre 3132. Rolex replaced the Oyster Perpetual 39 in 2020 with the Oyster Perpetual 41 and the Oyster Perpetual 36. The Explorer 214270 gave way in 2021 to a 36 mm Explorer, ref. 124270, and Rolex added a 40 mm Explorer, ref. 224270, in 2023. The Cellini line was Rolex’s dress watch, in Everose or white gold on a leather strap, and the 1908 took its place in 2023.

Rolex 39mm Price
At Watch My Diamonds, 39mm Rolex watches range from $9,899 to $66,960 across 8 priced listings.
The range is wide because this collection runs from steel to platinum. In our inventory, a pre-owned Oyster Perpetual 39 is usually the least expensive way into a 39 mm Rolex, and the 1908 in yellow gold on the Settimo bracelet sits at the top. For any single watch, the price depends on the model, the metal, the dial, the condition and whether the box and papers are included. Watches marked “Price on request” are in stock: contact us for a current figure.
Is 39 mm the Right Size?
Rolex measures the case diameter without the crown. At 39 mm, a Rolex wears slightly larger than a 36 mm Datejust and slightly smaller than a 41 mm Oyster Perpetual, a middle ground that suits a wide range of wrists. How a 39 mm watch wears also depends on the model: the slim 1908 and the Cellini are dress watches on leather straps, while the Oyster Perpetual 39 and the Explorer 39 sit on a steel Oyster bracelet. What replaced the Rolex Explorer 39?
The Explorer ref. 214270 was made from 2010 to 2021. Rolex replaced it with a 36 mm Explorer, ref. 124270, in 2021, and added a 40 mm Explorer, ref. 224270, in 2023.

No. The Submariner measures 41 mm today, up from 40 mm before 2020. The Air-King is 40 mm, and the Datejust family runs from 28 mm to 41 mm without a 39 mm size.
