Purple Rolex Watches

Rolex has its own names for purple. On the Datejust and the Lady-Datejust it is aubergine, a deep sunray purple paired with diamonds on the dial. On the steel Oyster Perpetual it is lavender, a soft lacquered shade offered in all five sizes. The discontinued Oyster Perpetual 39 came in a darker tone Rolex called red grape. This collection gathers every purple face Rolex we have, new and pre-owned, from 28 mm to 39 mm, with available watches first and sold ones last.

Purple Rolex Price

At Watch My Diamonds, purple dial Rolex watches range from $9,899 to $52,450 across 8 priced listings.

That range covers every watch on this page that has a price, including watches that have already sold, because a recent sale is a better guide to the market than an asking price. Some watches are listed as price on request; ask us and we will quote a current price. The spread is wide because purple runs across very different watches, from a steel Oyster Perpetual to a Datejust in solid 18 kt Everose gold on a President bracelet. New watches from the current catalog usually sell above Rolex retail on the secondary market, so it helps to compare any listing with the retail prices further down this page.

Aubergine, Lavender and Red Grape

Aubergine is the purple of the Datejust family: a deep, dark purple with a sunray finish. Rolex creates that finish by brushing fine grooves outward from the center of the dial, so the shade changes as light moves across it. The diamonds follow the model. The current aubergine Datejust 31 has a large Roman VI set with 11 diamonds, the Datejust 36 a Roman VI and IX in 18 kt gold set with 24 diamonds, and the Lady-Datejust diamond hour markers in 18 kt gold settings. Rolex offers aubergine in Oystersteel combined with white or Everose gold, and in solid 18 kt Everose or white gold.

Lavender is the purple of the Oyster Perpetual: a pale, cool lilac on a lacquered dial, with no diamonds to distract from the color. Rolex builds these dials on a brass base with six layers of lacquer, varnishes and polishes them, then pad-prints the inscriptions and rivets the hour markers by hand. Lavender comes only in Oystersteel on an Oyster bracelet, in every Oyster Perpetual size from 28 mm to 41 mm, which makes it the least expensive way into a purple Rolex.

Red grape was Rolex’s name for the darker, wine-toned purple of the Oyster Perpetual 39, ref. 114300. Rolex discontinued that reference in 2020, when the Oyster Perpetual moved to 41 mm, so a red grape dial is now found only on the pre-owned market. Older purple dials also turn up on pre-owned watches such as the Datejust 31 ref. 178344 and the Day-Date 36 ref. 118388.

The aubergine Datejust 36 watches in our collection, the 126234-0021, the 126234-0022 and the 126284RBR-0014, are earlier references that rolex.com no longer lists. Rolex now lists the aubergine Datejust 36 as the 126234-0064, at $12,550, plus two diamond-bezel versions: the 126284RBR-0055 on a Jubilee at $20,900, and the 126284RBR-0056 on an Oyster bracelet at $20,700.

Diamonds on a Purple Dial

Every current aubergine dial we found on rolex.com is set with diamonds, and the stones are part of the price: the 278274-0026 costs $11,200 at retail, $1,650 more than the same watch with a plain dial on the same Jubilee bracelet. The letters RBR at the end of a reference, as in the 278384RBR and the 279381RBR, mean the bezel is set with diamonds as well; on these Rolesor and gold models, a reference without them has a gold bezel, fluted or domed. Factory diamonds matter for value. A dial with stones added after the watch left Rolex is priced very differently, so check that the dial and the bezel match the reference on the warranty card before you buy.

Purple Rolex Sizes, From 28 mm to 41 mm

Purple at Rolex is mostly a smaller-watch color. The Lady-Datejust measures 28 mm and the Datejust 31 measures 31 mm, and together they make up most of this collection. For a larger wrist, the choices are the aubergine Datejust 36, the lavender Oyster Perpetual 36 and the lavender Oyster Perpetual 41. On the pre-owned market there are also the 39 mm red grape Oyster Perpetual and the Day-Date 36 ref. 118388. Rolex sorts its watches by size rather than by gender, so the right size is simply the one that suits your wrist: 36 mm is the classic Datejust size, while 41 mm is the largest Oyster Perpetual.

What Sets the Price of a Purple Rolex

  • Metal. A steel lavender Oyster Perpetual starts at $6,200 at retail. Oystersteel combined with gold puts an aubergine Datejust 31 between $11,000 and about $24,000, and solid 18 kt gold on a President bracelet starts above $40,000.
  • Diamonds. A diamond bezel adds thousands of dollars at retail. The 278341RBR-0019 costs $3,750 more than the 278271-0019, which has the same dial, metals and Oyster bracelet.
  • Bracelet. The Jubilee usually costs a few hundred dollars more than the Oyster on the same watch: $15,950 against $15,300 for the two versions of the 278271.
  • Condition and paperwork. New, unworn watches with their box and warranty card sell at the top of the market. Pre-owned watches, and watches without their papers, sell for less.
  • Availability. Discontinued colors such as red grape, and earlier aubergine references, trade only on the secondary market, where condition and demand set the price.

Purple Rolex FAQ

Does Rolex make a purple dial?

Yes. As of October 2026, rolex.com lists aubergine dials set with diamonds on the Datejust 31, the Datejust 36 and the Lady-Datejust, and a lavender dial on the steel Oyster Perpetual in all five sizes. Rolex uses those names rather than “purple”. Earlier purple shades, such as the red grape of the Oyster Perpetual 39, are available only pre-owned.

What is the difference between aubergine and lavender?

Aubergine is a deep, dark purple with a sunray finish and diamonds on the dial, found on Datejust and Lady-Datejust models in Rolesor or solid gold. Lavender is a pale purple on a lacquered dial without diamonds, found only on the steel Oyster Perpetual. At retail, a lavender Oyster Perpetual costs between $6,200 and $7,050, while the least expensive aubergine Datejust costs $11,000.

Is there a purple Rolex for men?

Rolex sorts its watches by size rather than by gender, so the real question is wrist size. The larger purple models are the aubergine Datejust 36, the lavender Oyster Perpetual 36 and the lavender Oyster Perpetual 41. Pre-owned, the red grape Oyster Perpetual 39 and purple dial versions of the Day-Date 36 are also worth a look.

How much does a purple Rolex cost?

At retail, prices run from $6,200 for the lavender Oyster Perpetual 28 to $59,650 for an aubergine Datejust 31 in solid 18 kt gold with a diamond bezel. Pre-owned and discontinued pieces are priced by the market. The price section above shows the current range of our listings, and the tables list Rolex’s retail price for each reference.

Is the red grape Oyster Perpetual still made?

No. The red grape dial belonged to the Oyster Perpetual 39, ref. 114300, which Rolex discontinued in 2020 when it moved the Oyster Perpetual to 41 mm. The closest new alternative is a lavender Oyster Perpetual, which is lighter and cooler in tone; a red grape dial is available only pre-owned.
